Parmarbrook are delighted to announce that Number 23 was the winner of the New London Award’s ‘Homes’ Category.
Number 23, designed by award-wining architect; MATT, is a playful family house constructed on a vacant end-of-terrace site in West London. The simple elevation conceals a house that is 30% bigger than its neighbours, despite occupying a 20% smaller plot – designed to outstanding environmental standards.
Parmarbrook provided the structural design for the bespoke new-build, which included a complex full-site basement on a compact urban site. Above ground, the two storey house consists of a lightweight steel and timber structural frame which maximised efficiency and flexibility with the spacious internal layout. To the front elevation, a large cantilevered steel structure was designed to form a tall dramatic window which projects out over the public highway from above the main entrance.
The New London Awards recognise the very best in architecture, planning and development in the capital and are judged by an eminent international jury looking for the highest design quality that demonstrate a positive impact on their surroundings.
