This Project was led by Chetan Parmar whilst employed at a previous firm.

At 160 metres tall, 20 Fenchurch Street consists of a two storey lobby and podium, 31 floors of commercial office space, and a multi-level glass-enclosed Sky Garden.

The design called for similar east and west façades and distinctive north and south façades. All façades “swing out” as they rise up. Vertical mullions at the base all splay to give a wider look at the atop of the building.

Challenge: Given the “outward lean” of the building envelope, typical swing stages would not enable maintenance crews to clean the building envelope.

Solution: The structural designed the façade to take enough horizontal load to support swing stages
