The Park Royal hotel is located on a rectangular site of approximately 0.24 hectares which lies within the Hanger Hill Conservation Area. The site contained an existing two storey locally listed 1930s hotel. The building follows the frontage of the site and takes up roughly a quarter of the site coverage, the remainder of which is made up of hard standing parking areas.

Our role was to retain the existing building and construct a new floor on top, with a 6 storey new build to the West and East sides. The new circa 200 bed hotel and 60 car parking spaces will provide an enhanced feel to the area with its new building being sympathetic design.

The constraints of the site, mainly the change in levels across the site and the need to stitch the new build in to the existing listed building was an enjoyable challenge.
