Sutherland House is an office-to-residential conversion of 128 residential (PRS) units in central Sutton.

The project demanded a careful balancing of Local Authority planning aspirations for local enhancement, with an extremely tight budget and short programme.

The scheme was brought forward on the basis of Permitted Development Rights where the outdated, poorly maintained 1960’s concrete framed office block could be reused as residential accommodation. The extremely robust concrete structure also had very shallow floor to floor heights, which required careful incorporation of the broad distribution of services required in residential units.
