  • Manage water movement below the ground, preventing flooding during severe storms up to those occurring once every 200 years

Located in Suffolk, the Woodbridge Road Academy is an educational facility dedicated to serving students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The architectural design of the 2-storey school, led by Pick Everard, emphasises functionality and accessibility and has created a conducive atmosphere for learning.

Parmarbrook was appointed to provide both structural and civil engineering consultancy for the project. We were responsible for providing all sub-structure design, which needed to be carefully coordinated to fit seamlessly with the modular superstructure, including mass concrete foundations and a suspended ground floor slab. At ground level, Parmarbrook introduced several enhancements, including green dry swales, the planting of new trees, spacious green areas, a horticultural space, sensory gardens, habitat areas, and outdoor play equipment.

Woodbridge Road Academy, completed in 2023, is a significant addition to the landscape of educational facilities dedicated to SEND students. Challenges
